Day 1: Kampala – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls

You depart early from Kampala, driving north toward Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, which takes about 4–5 hours. Upon arrival, you join a guided rhino tracking tour, walking through the sanctuary to spot endangered white rhinos and learn about conservation efforts. After this exciting encounter, you continue west to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving in the afternoon. You check into your lodge or safari camp along the Nile River, with the evening free to relax, enjoy the views, or capture the stunning sunset over the river.

Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park

Start the day with an early morning game drive across Murchison Falls National Park, where you can see elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, and other wildlife. The landscapes vary from savannahs to riverine forests, providing excellent photographic opportunities. Later, visit the Top of Murchison Falls to witness the Nile as it squeezes through a narrow gorge and plunges dramatically. In the afternoon, you may take an optional boat cruise along the Nile to the base of the falls, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and birds, while enjoying the magnificent scenery. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Murchison Falls – Gulu – Kidepo Valley

Early in the morning, you depart Murchison Falls for the long drive north, passing through Gulu, where you can stop for refreshments and lunch. Continue to Kidepo Valley National Park, one of Uganda’s most remote and scenic wildlife areas, arriving in the late afternoon. After checking in at your lodge or camp, you have the option of a short evening game drive to spot nocturnal animals and get a first glimpse of Kidepo’s dramatic landscapes.

Day 4: Kidepo Valley National Park

Spend a full day in Kidepo Valley with morning and afternoon game drives. The park’s vast savannahs, rolling hills, and riverine forests are home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and over 400 bird species. The scenery is stunning, with acacia-studded plains and distant mountains. You can also arrange a visit to a Karamojong village, where you learn about the traditional lifestyle, culture, and crafts of the local people. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Kidepo – Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve

Depart Kidepo and drive to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, a quieter and less-visited park, taking about 4–5 hours. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive or walking safari to spot wildlife such as ostriches, buffalo, hartebeest, or oryx. The peaceful landscapes of Pian Upe, with open plains and scattered acacia trees, offer a more intimate wildlife experience. Overnight at a lodge or camp near Pian Upe, enjoying the serenity of this remote area.

Day 6: Pian Upe – Mbale – Sipi Falls

After breakfast, you drive southeast toward Mbale, a journey of about 5–6 hours, passing through small towns and scenic rural landscapes. From Mbale, continue to Sipi Falls, a spectacular series of waterfalls at the edge of Mount Elgon, arriving in the afternoon. Check into a lodge with views of the falls and take a short hike to the first waterfall, enjoying the lush greenery and misty landscapes. Evening is free for relaxation and photography.

Day 7: Sipi Falls Exploration

Dedicate the full day to exploring Sipi Falls. Hike to all three main waterfalls, take in panoramic views of the surrounding Mount Elgon highlands, and enjoy optional adventure activities such as abseiling or waterfall swimming. Visit local coffee plantations, interact with the communities, and learn about traditional farming practices. The day offers a mix of adventure, nature, and cultural immersion, ending with a peaceful evening at your lodge.

Day 8: Sipi Falls – Kampala

On the final day, depart early from Sipi Falls for the drive back to Kampala, which takes approximately 6–7 hours. Enjoy scenic stops along the way for photos or refreshments. Arrive in Kampala in the afternoon or evening, concluding your 8-day Northern Uganda adventure safari, filled with wildlife encounters, dramatic landscapes, cultural experiences, and unforgettable memories.
